Inhoud

During this visit you will be part of an introduction & presentation on Gentlestudent.

Artevelde University of Applied Sciences initially encourages its students to act professionally, to think critically and to become the person in the world they can and want to be, and brings students and citizens closer together through Gentlestudent.

Gentlestudent focuses on meaningful and in-depth learning and does so in continuous dialogue with the students and the initiatives in the city itself. With Gentlestudent, Artevelde University College provides an online platform on which the neighborhood and students find each other through various learning opportunities, spread throughout the city. Residents and organisations in the neighborhood can post very concrete ideas and needs on this platform.

For the (Gentle) students, this platform is an opportunity to make their social commitment visible. They can find ideas and needs and then offer themselves to realize a creative solution or action. They also receive an Open Badge for their realized learning opportunity.

This visit is part of the study visit Good practices of validation and recognition of 21st century skills for adult education programmes. Participants of this visit can earn an open badge by participating in and reflecting on this visit.

This badge is a reflection tool for the visit at GentleStudent in Ghent, Belgium. This visit is part of the study visit Good practices of validation and recognition of 21st century skills for adult education programmes.

In this visit we looked at Gentlestudent, which focuses on meaningful and in-depth learning and does so in continuous dialogue with the students and the initiatives in the city itself. With Gentlestudent, Artevelde University College provides an online platform on which the neighborhood and students find each other through various learning opportunities, spread throughout the city.

The holder of the badge will have worked either on their own or in a small group to reflect on the questions:
  • how the visit has gone;
  • what has been learned;
  • how to use this in your work;
  • how else to use it (think about e.g. benefit for society).

The questions are designed to optimise generative learning: they are not just about what the participant has learnt but also how they can use the learning in their work and personal life.

This badge has been issued by a facilitator of the study visit.
