We are inviting youth leaders for mental health promotion in the youth field!


To achieve better mental wellbeing and end stigmatisation of mental health issues, thus promoting social inclusion of all young people.

Goal 5 of The EU Youth Strategy 2019-27

Breakthrough Foundation (The Netherlands) and Think Forward (United Kingdom), together with the partners Kids in Action (Greece), Madiba (Italy), Youthopolis (Romania), Mazeli (Curacao), Spain, EduEra (Slovakia), Portugal, Vice Verza (Czech Republic) and Go Europe (Germany) are organising a training course for youth leaders.
This training will aim to have a positive impact on mental wellbeing & ending stigmatisation of young peoples’ mental illness.

Objectives of this course
  • To grow awareness & expression of personal emotions, thoughts, values, & behaviour of youth leaders and the young people they learn, live and work with 
  • To grow understanding & regulating personal emotions, thoughts, & behaviour, including stress responses of youth leaders & support them to create peer education opportunities
  • To promote the adoption of a sustainable lifestyle that respects the environment, & the physical & mental well being of self, while seeking & offering social support to others 
  • To develop 6 learning pathways about resilience, self-regulation, flexibility and well being that will be published at the Cities of Learning platforms.

  • To strengthen your partnership and cooperation for innovation with organisations that work in mental health education for young people in non-formal settings.
  • To join a high quality training for European and Curacao young leaders to create long term connections between Curacao & European youth organisations
  • To exchange good practices between partners in ‘mental health promotion in the youth field’

What should you expect?
  • A week of exciting learning with young people from Greece, Italy, Romania, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Curacao, Spain, Slovakia, Portugal, Czech Republic and Germany.
  • A combination of individual and group learning
  • Opportunities to try out and learn new techniques for mental health promotion
  • A possibility to create new learning pathways in the frame of Cities of Learning
  • Increasing the capacity of your organisation and ultimately creating benefits to young people.
  • A long term training course where you also will connect with youth leaders within this project.

From 7 - 15 February 2023 (incl. travel days)

Where?
Group Accommodation De Borckerhof, Orvelte, The Netherlands

Who? 
  • Youth leaders between 18 and 29 years old
  • Express an interest in developing their capacity for promoting the mental health and resilience of their peers
  • Have a connection with their sending local organisations
  • Are ready to prepare and support the development of youth programmes focused on the material they will learn during the training
  • Are committed for the long-term process of learning and using Mental Health promotion as a part of their role as a youth leader and willing to apply their learning in a local context
  • Youth leaders from The Netherlands, Romania, Greece, Italy, United Kingdom, Curacao, Portugal, Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Germany.
The international activities will be carried out in English and will require a conversational level of communication in English.

When your local sending organisation has agreed with your participation, you can register for this training course via this form, before 7 January 2023. 
The Mental health promotion in the youth field training is co-funded by Erasmus+ and therefore there is a travel budget for travelling to The Netherlands. There is not a training fee for participants, though, we will ask a fee of €50 to offer you the certificate.
