Lithuanian debate festival ‘Būtent!’
Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) confirms with this digital badge that the recipient volunteered at the Lithuanian debate festival ‘Būtent!’ in the MRU space. Volunteering at the festival provided an opportunity to contribute to open interaction between the university and the wider community, by helping visitors discover the discussions and experiential activities organised by MRU academics and social partners. During their volunteering, the recipient:
- actively invited festival visitors to interactive activities of European Reform University Alliance (ERUA);
- interacted with visitors of various ages and interests, answered their questions and helped them choose activities of interest;
- contributed to the smooth running of the MRU space, maintaining order, a positive atmosphere and visitor engagement;
- collaborated with MRU staff, researchers, students and social partners during the event.
By taking part in the volunteering activity, the recipient(s) developed and strengthened the following competences and skills:
Communication: clear communication of information, public speaking, and the ability to present complex information to different audiences.
Social: interacting with a variety of people, empathy, the ability to listen and respond to visitors’ needs.
Organisational: taking responsibility for assigned tasks, coordinating activities, navigating a dynamic event environment.
Collaboration: working as part of a team, liaising with university staff from different disciplines, researchers and social partners.
Problem-solving: the ability to quickly assess unexpected situations, make independent decisions and find appropriate solutions.
Personal qualities: initiative, self-confidence, flexibility and the ability to operate in a public setting.
Civic engagement and social responsibility: active participation in public dialogue, contributing to the development of a sense of community between academia, the university and society.
