The badge holder has demonstrated dedicated and competent mastery of the competency of Safety: Protecting health and well-being. With pride, he or she can demonstrate the following results and skills:

The ability to avoid health risks and threats to physical and mental well-being when using digital technology. The ability to protect oneself and others against potential dangers in digital environments (e.g. cyberbullying). Awareness of the potential of digital technology to support social well-being and social inclusion.

At an advanced level, based on my own needs and those of others and in complex contexts, I can:
  • distinguish the most appropriate methods to avoid health risks and threats to physical and mental well-being when using digital technologies;
  • master the most appropriate methods to protect myself and others against dangers in digital environments;
  • vary the use of digital technologies to support social well-being and social inclusion.

Make a plan with your coach about which tasks you will perform to master the following skills:
  • distinguishing the most appropriate methods to avoid health risks and threats to physical and mental well-being while using digital technologies;
  • learning the most suitable methods to protect yourself and others against dangers in digital environments;
  • varying the use of digital technologies to support social well-being and social inclusion.

Examples to develop these skills:
Avoiding health risks and threats while using digital technologies:
  • Research blue light settings on your devices and adjust them to reduce eye strain.
  • Use anti-fatigue software to take regular breaks while working on your computer or tablet.
  • Make agreements with yourself about technology use and stick to them to prevent excessive use and addiction.
Protection against dangers in digital environments:
  • Learn how to recognize phishing emails and avoid opening suspicious attachments or links.
  • Use strong passwords and change them regularly to prevent others from accessing your accounts.
  • Use two-factor authentication to add extra security to your accounts.
Varying the use of digital technologies to support social well-being and social inclusion:
  • Use social media to connect with friends and family members who live far away.
  • Enroll in online courses and share experiences with other students to improve your knowledge and make new friendships.
  • Use online platforms to communicate with people who share the same interests as you, for example, through online communities or forums.
By practicing these methods, you can not only protect your own health and safety but also contribute to a safer, more inclusive digital environment for everyone.
